sPlan5 has been years in the making. The final inspiration, the one that motivated me to address my desire to make traditionally complex topics easier to understand, came from reading the book “Simple” – Conquering the Crisis of Complexity. Written by Alan Siegel and Irene Etzkorn, this is a book promoting the need to make business and government more efficient by reducing the amount of complexity.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo Da Vinci
The above quote sums it up. Based on an example about a new financial institution mentioned in the book I joined a bank called Simple Bank – You can only join if you own a smart phone. It is really easy and it does everything I need it to do.
An early section of Siegel and Etzkor’s book states – “Everyone wants to understand what is being offered or expected of them, and simplicity helps make that clear. It shortens the distance between people. It’s about building humanity into everything you do, whether you’re communicating with people, designing products or delivering services.”
I am committing to this movement. This is the foundation for sPlan5. The blog will bring to the foreground how we can promote beautiful and simple designs. The first project sPlan5 will pursue is an easy to understand Non-Qualified Benefit Plan for Small and Mid-Sized Companies. From there we will move into other areas of the financial services industry and beyond.
Thank you for reading.
